Traveler's Guide to Eternisa: Extended Version

Word Count: ~1500

Administrator's Note: Each city is separated into its own category for your convenience. There are some role-player friendly tips within each one, regarding the environment within each city and about special NPC characters that you may hope to encounter.

The guide is written in the sense that you are the character that you're playing to give it a more... life-like feel?.

The Place of White

Upon waking up in an empty room, the only thing you will find that is not white, is a black device waiting for you on a chair. Sometimes, though, you will be greeted by a young woman waiting for you to wake up. She may speak to you... or she may appear to vanish the moment you look away. If she does speak to you, she will smile and welcome you to the “most wonderful place”. It seems she rather likes it here.

Whether, or not, it is the “most wonderful place”... Well, that is up to you to find out.

The girl will never reveal anything, unfortunately. There is no point in asking. She will tell you about as much as the device. The only difference is that the device seems to only know four words, which are:

”ONE, TWO, OR THREE?”

[[NOTE: The girl is an up-to-you character. You do not have to include her in any of your wake up posts. If you wish to, her character is ENTIRELY up to you. She only exists to confuse the character for fun.

DEVICE: If you take more than an hour to pick a number, the device might reveal that it knows more about you than it should. It will mention something, including your name, seemingly as means of “shaking you up” (example: it would reveal, to a Zelos from before he betrays his group, that it knows Zelos is “planning to kidnap the other Chosen”). It is programmed to force you into carelessly picking a number. Unfortunately, you will have to simply pick. Although, no matter which number you pick, you will be sent to a city that is filled with very odd people.]]

City Three

The “undesirables” (meaning, the kingdom's less smart/athletic/attractive people) were sent to live in a more run-down city, where all of the dead had been buried, up to that point. Reports of hauntings have been made, though no investigations have ever been made. All you will have to go off of, is word of mouth – if you can ever manage to get one of these people to talk to you.

They are all very shy and withdrawn, seeming to have lost all hope of things returning to what most of them know of in stories (practically all of them are too young to remember how things were). Should you find yourself in this city, the first thing you will notice is the incredibly large graveyard literally surrounding it. Nowadays, it is not being utilized, so the lack of activity gives it a nice ghost town-y feel. There is no room left for new bodies, and dying in this kingdom earns you a visit to the crematorium (the oddly large building that sits at the center of the city).

Despite it being called a “city”, this is not what most people visualize when they hear that word. Honestly, the word “graveyard” or “ghost town” suits it much better. The locals actually call it “Graveyard City” or even “City of the Dead”. Whether that is an implication of the ghost sightings that occur every single day, or not, is up for investigation. Maybe a look around could give that answer. Even the locals are not exactly brave enough to do that.

The population of this city is roughly under twenty people. It being the smallest, though, seems to almost make up for the lack of populace. Keep in mind, while you explore, that there may be some... odd people lurking about, in this city. No, we are not talking about the dead people. Simply the citizens. They are not going to like anyone from the outside. Most likely, any person you attempt to talk to will give you a rude comment... or even a rude gesture. Keep it up and you may not find yourself in a good situation. It is best to just keep your head down and continue walking.

That may not be what you consider to be the worst part of living here, however. This being the king's least favorite group of people, he does not tend to take very good care of them. Food is very scarce-as is the rest of the most important things within a survival aspect. If you can be lucky enough to get a job, you may do well enough to live. You first major task is going to be finding your basic needs, altogether. Each one is a different (and equally difficult) challenge, in itself. You will have to go from person to person to gain help.

[[POINTER: You could start at the inn. The guy at the inn, after gaining some pity from him, could direct you to someone with food and water... And so on, and so forth. See Zelos' City One post, for even more ideas!

GHOSTS: The spirits within this city can range from “boo” scary to “oh man I need to change my pants” scary. This is entirely up to the player. Whether, or not, the ghosts can touch the character is ALSO up to the player.]]

Fear not, though. There is a benefit to living here: keep to yourself and you are way more likely to NEVER be noticed by the king. You should be fine, here... Really.

City Two

This city is a favorite of the new king. This is where all of the smartest of people got unwillingly moved to. Basically, this is the home of the nerds and geeks! It is filled with the most advanced of technology. Robots walk among people and everything is revolved around a set schedule. Meals are set for a specific time each day. Showers are scheduled according to your apartment number, and there are even computers with internet here. Your device even seems to be working, much better.

[[NOTE: If you have ever seen the Back to the Future movies or even The Hunger Games, you may have a good idea of what the technology is like in this city. If not... and your imagination is not very good with sci-fi stuff, there is a small explanation at the end of this section for you. If you wish to have a more thorough one, please post a request in the Q&A.]]

Have we mentioned that room and board-is free? Well, we should have... because it is. Gee, this place sounds pretty wonderful, does it not? What could be bad about free things? Of course we did say “nearly”. You do want a job, if you like the idea of having actual luxury items (computer, radio, CD player, internet, cable, etc...). Basic needs, though? Well, let us just say that this city is the reason that other cities have to work for what they need. Oh, right... back to the catch.

Well... this particular luxurious city actually DOES come at a price. A fairly big one, if you like the idea of not being spied on.

Firstly, the king really uses this city as one big experiment. The devices? They watch you sleep. The robots? They listen to the king even better than his soldiers and work as walking video cameras.

So your best bet is to appear as boring as possible. If you happen to catch the king's attention (using magic, special abilities, etc), and he feels he could use you as anything, he will likely attempt to capture you-or, well, have you captured. You could always escape to City Three, though... Or figure out who this Val-person is that everyone talks about.

Secondly (and speaking of Val), there is the matter of there being some rather... unusual beings lurking around this city. One being a rather unstable resident by the name of Val. Once you meet him, you are never really the same. He is the only citizen within Eternita with the ability to openly transport from one city to the next. This basically means that you never know where you will find him; though, he never stays away from City One, for long.

[[RESIDENTS: They are meant to be finicky about the technology. After all, they helped to build everything here. Abuse anything electronic around here? You may get an angry geek or nerd in your face!

TECHNOLOGY: The showers are automatic, and you can use a touch pad to customize your meals (and they will simply pop out of a slot in the wall). Basically, everything is run by a touch-pad system. Room is too hot? Touch a button on the wall. Want to set a reminder to go somewhere? Type it in on the wall, so that a voice may alert you five minutes before you should go. There are things such as hover boards, too (you can stand on this skateboard-like thing and float to your destination... you control your speed with the pressure of your foot!)... and hover cars (cars without wheels that run on water... they do not float too high off of the ground, though. Maybe ten feet?). You can use your imagination, though! Feel free to improvise~ We are not all that strict, around here! As long as it is not changing the story, the administrator DOES NOT CARE! Most of these things are merely suggestions, anyway.

BEFRIENDING VAL: He likes people that he can get a rise out of. That, however, is not the way to gain his full interest. Show him that you are not afraid of him. Really, act like he is overrated. He will probably just laugh at you, for it, then go on about his business. It could have something to do with all of the citizens (including the soldiers) always acting afraid of him.

Secretly, he has a soft spot for people being victimized by soldiers. After all, he was a victim, once. So... if you have already shown him no fear, and you do become a target of the king? Post a message about the soldiers chasing you. Direct it to your friends. If Val spots it, he will casually put an end to the entire thing. The soldiers will, quite simply, disappear. After that, you might get random visits from him (pretending to have simply run into you... when really he is just checking up on you, because he feels protective of you-especially if you are a child, woman, or even a pretty boy).

So, there you have it, folks. The “psychotic asshole” really is not that bad of a guy. It is the alternate personality, Kai, that you really need to be worried about. So when posting the help posts... just hope it is actually Val (and not Kai just pretending to be Val).

City One

Are you unusually happy? Do most horrible things, in life, tend to never get you down? Ah, so you have the Colette Syndrome! |D

Well, maybe this is the city for you, then. This Victorian-Style ~resort~ is where the oddly stable-in-life people go. Every word out of their mouth is positive. They never frown. If they cry, it is always tears of joy. This is where the king put all of his most loyal and willing citizens. This being his second favorite city, he occasionally sends in soldiers strictly to check the people out. He will have the soldiers carry almost invisible video recorders to spy on the residents.

Population: ~30

You might want to hope that you do not do anything “overly interesting” around soldiers, while here. Other than that minor let-down, though, you do have an adequate amount of food here. These people will be more than willing to help you, really. You simply have to appeal to their cheerful nature, is all! Find a job, appear to be a hard-working model citizen that loves the king and his way of doing EVERYTHING... And you will be just fine. :D

[[RESIDENTS: The residents here are meant to be a bit... off. They should seem to never have a full grasp on reality. Finding a job should be easy, too, due to how happy these people are. Finding a home? Even easier. There are an endless supply of apartments, since all of the houses are taken by said residents.]]
